Thanks Red Chili, I like to hear extreme use testimonials such as yours. Products that not only perform but can hack abuse especially from trucks (and weather) are what I like about these forums...what works and doesn't work. I can't wait to see how the Silverstars match up again the PIAAs.

Hey whats up man, get the silverstars yet? My piaa's burnt out 2 months ago so since then I have just been using the stock bulbs untill I have decided which ones to get, Piaa's again or silverstars. So what do you think of the silverstars?

 

I found the PIAA's here at a 4x4 shop in Lakewood for ~$40/pair. Might try them as they seem to be a little cheaper than the Silverstars (~$50); give them a try during our Colorado winter.

 

What type of Silverstars would I need for my truck? 96 4Runner.

Model? Watts?

 

Well I got the Silverstars in...they're brighter than stock but by no means give the white light hue. Needless to say I'm disappointed. $35.00 for slightly brighter orange glow. Save your money fellas and keep the stock bulbs and invest in a pair of hella fog lights. I liked the PIAAs for the look and performance but didn't like their short life (and price). We'll see how the Silverstars stack up longevity-wise but I can tell you this I'm not going to spend any more $$ on either PIAAs or Silverstars. This makes more compelling case for HIDs; they may be more expensive but supposedly they are better suited for off-road rigs (durability, visibility). Anyone have any experience w/ Raybrig or Catz or any other HID manufacturers?


Hey Nolan, how long did your original PIAAs last before your bulbs burned out? I know you've had them longer on your 'Runner before I got my on my Tacoma but I went thru two sets.

 

I had them for id say a year and a half. I dont have daytime running lights either so that may be a factor in the longevity.

About the HID's, you can not get them in the U.S., do you have any oversea's hook-ups?
