parts crossover manual?

I have heard in the past of a parts crossover manual, used primarily by junkyards, to sell you parts that will fit your vehicle even if they did not necessarily come off of the same year and model as yours. I have even seen the guy at the junkyard looking things up in this manual. I thought I heard it was called the Mitchell Manual, but have not found it when I searched that name, anybody know of what I speak? If not maybe I will call some junkyards Monday. thanks

The one that I remember was called Hollander(spelling?). Depending on what part it is you can try looking at Checker or Autozone websites putting in different vehicles and seeing if you can find the same part numbers. I know it can be time consuming but sometimes its all you've got to go on. You can call the junkyard and they can generally tell you what parts will exchange. Good luck
