Paint mine or buy some new wheels?

Hey guys,

I have the stock Toyota wheels on my 99 Tacoma right now. Mine came with 31x10.5x15 tires. I like the size, but I think I'd like to go bigger.

So my problem is this....

Should I paint the wheels I have? They are quite beat up (the center caps mostly) My truck is getting de-chromed ASAP...I'm Herculining all the chrome, so the wheels are going to be painted black or replaced with some other black wheel.

OR

Should I wait till I need new tires and go a little bigger on my wheels...although I don't think I can go any larger with my stock setup?

I think I have to put a 1-2" lift on my truck and beat some metal to get no tire rub if I put larger tires under there, I'm not sure on this though.

What do you all think? I want to go larger but I don't wanna break the bank in doing so.

Thanks!

If you don't want to break the bank, then I'd say just paint your stockers. If you don't like it, you can just get new wheels later down the road and only be out about $20ish from the wheel paint.

Here it is MK....

The only prob I have with the Chrome is that I've got some chips on the front bumper trim and two nice cracks on the rear bumper that are beginning to rust...I figured Herculiner would fix all that. I dunno how much rechroming them would cost but I'd imagine it would be at little $$.

I like my tire size right now...running Procomp All Terrains at the moment and I've been happy with them. I took my TRD Decals off just the other day. I don't really see a lift as being necessary as this is my DD....I use it for hunting, fishing, camping, etc, so I don't think a lift is needed. Nastiest thing I take it down is abandoned logging roads.

They are actually 31X10.50R15's.

Why is it that some sizes are listed like mine? It seems odd that there is a difference in sizing.

31.10.50.15 is the old way to size tires
the new imperial way is the 235/75/15

they kept the old skool ones for some tire sizes for older cars
