Thumbs down P0505- Idle Control Malfunction

97 Tacoma Regular Cab, 180k, 2wd, 2.4l Auto, Camburg 5 Over Kit up front, Deavers in the back, 30/10.5/15 Kuhmos.

This is my first non 22re and non manual, Im pulling a code of P0505- Idle Control Malfunction I work at an auto parts store and get a great discount so i started replacing a few parts. Here is what I have replaced to try and fix this problem in order. First I removed and cleaned the iacv no change then, I replaced the Iacv, MAF, Throttle Body, Plugs, Wires, Cap, Rotor, Fuel Filter, Intake, Filter, all vacuum lines, and 02s. NOTHING has helped. My idle fluctuates between 750 and 1200 erratically while cold, then is fine while warmed up. ECM? Iacv wiring?

Anyways now onto the second problem, The truck will not cruise at 65 or anywhere above 55 without down shifting and once it shifts back up it goes right back down to 50 regardless of the pedal being to the floor or not. I have adjusted the tranny linkage with not much change and it has 160 Compression through all cylinders. I know long first post but Ive been lurking all over for a few weeks and cant figure this out for the life of me.

160 is a little bit low on the compression side.
Have you checked the valves recently?
Loosing coolant?

These engines have a history of the exhaust valves getting too tight and cracking the head or burning a valve.

Coolants good, the cracked head etc. would suck so lets pretend that's not a possibility.. haha but i will definitely check the valves and get them done if needed.

Check engine vacuum. Here's a good site to do some reading about what you might see the gauge do: http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/186.cfm

Well, I ripped the intake and throttle body off for the third time.. Re-Routed some lines and cleaned my IACV again.. oh and the best part was how all the screws came out perfectly but the very last one that basically fell apart in my hand. But it seems to be running and idling alot better than before. I guess we wont know until the wonderful cold start in the morning
