Outside temp guage?

I have a 2002 4Runner LTD with the automatic climate controll. The outside temp guage seems to have a mind of its own. It usually registers much higher then the actual outside temp. Is this a normakl thing or is something wrong here? It seems to be about 10 deg. too high.

I've never seen a car temp guage hit dead on. You got heat coming from the truck no matter what so its going to effect somehow.

Be lucky mine hasn't worked since the day I got my truck. Al it displays is --
I've tried to mess with it, stuck a meter on the sensor and it appears to be working, but still I have nothing indoors? Who knows? Anybody have any other ideas that would be great!
