get a trd s/c included into financing!! scrap the bedliner early cuz it scratches the paint (but after 5K its probly destroyed already)

 

I was thinking ... if your willing to take a demo with 6K miles on it. Then why not get a used taco with 6K-9K miles on it. It woud have already taken the new car depreciation (sp?) hit and you would probably get for right around $20. and still have 20k+ miles factory warranty on it.

i bet you could knock the price on the demo down even more because they know that demo was beat to hell

 

I don't expect them to budge any more on their price, which is why I've moved on to other dealerships. sdastg1, I had the same idea and have been looking around for a slightly used Taco as well.

I'm surprised at the number of dealerships that have said they don't have any double cabs on their lot currently. My local dealership just got a bright red d-cab with a cap in on a trade, I think its a 2001 or 2002, with ~50,000 miles. That's the only used one they have currently. Don't like the color or miles, but asked about it anyway. Dealer said it would price around 20k which means it wil probably sell for around 17-18.

Haven't bought anything yet, but the more I think about it the better I feel about moving away from that demo model. I had a dealership about 30 miles from here call me today, they have a brand new double cab with all the same options, in the dark red color. List for 27 something, invoice price is $25,085. I want to see if he will come down any more before I mention anything about trades.

I don't know about your region (Denver), but in mine D-Cabs are excluded from any rebates or incentives, they're that hot. The upside is that this is one of four "thrust months" for Toyota nationwide. TMS takes the events seriously, puts megabucks into all media, and conducts special incentives for dealer principals that are always based on unit volume. So although there's no cash back on D-Cab, the dealer will be all over the GM who will be beating up the SM who will be screaming at the Salesperson who will be fired at month end if they don't do XX or more "units".

This month's dealer incentives are first class trips to either Rome, Athens, South Africa, Sydney, or an Alaskan cruise. Incentive cutoff is almost always calendar month end. What others posted about the last day of the month is spot on. The last hour of the last day of a thrust month even better, and 12/31 best of all for manufacturer bragging rights.

If you want one, I don't think waiting would be in your interest. The next thrust month will be either July or August, but by then Tacoma production will be winding down somewhat while the Tijuana facility :cry: ramps up with the new model, creating shortages of the current generation Taco in big truck regions (Denver and Portland).

 

I just bought an 03 Taco D-cab TRD with 5K on it. It was "Certified" by the Toyota dealership giving me 6yrs/100K on the drivetrain. I also got them to include the "WRAP" warranty, basically making it 6yr/100K bumper to bumper now! Its better than the new car warranty! Check into it!

 

If they are trying to sell you a demo then they should make you a better offer than that. Think about it, if the vehicle already has 5000 miles on it, then he has obviously has had it a while, and besides that, was the break in oil change done at the right time, has it been off road, has he dogged the hell out of it? Questions you probably will not ever get the truth for. Food for thought. Good luck

 

Stay away from any demo with 5800 miles on it unless you get a steal price.
