Angry OMG those brakes are touchy!!

My wife drives a 2000 4WD Nissan Pathfinder (bought new) which has INCREDIBLY touchy brakes. This along with her so-so braking habits has resulted in her warping the rotors. We had them resurfaced in late fall of 2002, but they still squeal like a champ in slow braking conditions and I can feel the beginnings of them warping again. Do you think slotted/cross-drilled rotors will solve (or at least drag out) by problems?? I don't want to replace the rotors and pads just to have this happen again in a year or so.

EDIT: Is there something that could be wrong that would make them touchy??

Make sure the rear brakes are functioning/proportioned correctly. Otherwise the front will be taking more of the braking duties than necessary.

That's actually reassuring. At least I know there's nothing wrong with the braking system on the whole.

How might I do that?

Thanks for the help.

I like Nissan's brakes better than the spongy brake on the 4Runner. That is one of the few dislikes on the 4Runner.

Its actually part of the $1000 "30K, 60K, 90K" dealer check. Well I am exaggerating, but unless you have the FSM, the dealer would be the go to person on rear brake adjustment and cleaning.

(Or an independent shop) - whatever you do, just dont go to Midas!
