I finally got around to installing the OME lift. The rear was a major PITA. Not hard but the rear shocks gave me fits. I went with OME 882/N91 front and OME 890/N86 rear. Gained approximately 3" at all 4 corners. Here is the obligatory mall crawler shot.

I purchased the 882 assembly from a friend in GA who ran them on his Taco. I paid $150 for the front. They were already assembled so it was an easy swap. I purchased the rear lift from Wheeler's offroad (about $330 shipped). I need to do the diff drop but I haven't ordered it yet. I just purchased the Dueller revos (265/75) so it will be awhile on the tires. My plan is to get another set of rims and get some 285's for offroad use.

 

thanks. and, wow, those are 265/75?! thats the biggest tire i want and this lift makes them look small!

 

How's the ride quality? I was thinking of the same setup but I don't want to give up comfort and road manners. I have the same color setup on my 96 Ltd.

 

yep, they looked huge before the lift. Once the lift settles I think it will look much better.

 

Well i replaced 12 year old struts,shock and coils so to me anything would be much better. Personally, I've ran 882's on two different tacomas and never had a complaint. It may be a little harsher but I will need to give it a few weeks to break in.

I recommend to installed diff. drop immediately. With 882 on 4R is stressing to much on the cv axle. I'm running a set and I'm thinking which is the best result for front suspension.

 

Got one on the way. The inner CV boots were leaking before the lift and the lift didn't help matters. A couple of hose clamps temporarily fixed the problem. I plan on adding a TJM or ARB in the near future so that was the reasoning behind the 882's. I ran them on my tacoma for 3 years without a problem. hoping to get the same results out of the runner.

 

That's the same route I'm going Bull Bars. I had one before until my wife tested it on a concrete wall of the parking lot. It’s tough the body not much damage.

 

The rigs look great with the 882's! I'm looking to get a set pretty quickly, but am wondering if anyone has used a topout to get the full 3"?

 

i have the 883's which are longer and the toytech top plate spacer and have about 3.5in of front lift... no problems as of now and i wheel it good...

 

Are you running an ARB bumper up front? Doug at Toytec really doesn't recommend the 883's unless there's a bumper and winch installed. Since I won't be doing those mods for quite a while, I'm wondering if 882's will suffice.

 

i have a tube front bumper and it weights maybe 60lbs. and it rides great. i got my springs from toytec since they are local...
