Question Oil pressure sending unit.. easy install?

Just curious.. I've never done it before on any vehicle.. so I'm just curious if it's an easy install or not? I've got a 93 3.0 Runner.. Oh, and anything special I need to know or have before I do this install?

Thanks

Yup. Very easy especially if your replacing an existing one. In that case, just put a few winds of telfon tape on the new one and swap it out. You may get a little bit of oil from the hole but not likely enough to worry about. If you let the engine sit for a day it makes it that much easier.

If you're adding a guage, finding a place to plug in the sender can be more of a problem. Not familiar with the 3.0 so I don't know if there's one available or not. You can always use the location of the stock sender if it's not needed or wanted anymore. Most aftermarket guage senders are 1/8"NPT which means you'd need an adapter to the metric threads in the block.

I'm just using the stock gauge in the dash so I shouldn't have to worry about all that.. hopefully.

Thanks for the info!

When doing an sr5 guage cluster swap you need to replace the oil pressure switch with an oil pressure sending unit. On my 3vze it was really hard for me to reach and I have no clue how the mechanic removed mine without much trouble

Hm.. well I'm replacing the sending unit because the guage in the dash never changes. We took the wire that goes to the sending unit and touched it to the frame with the engine running and saw the guage move, so I'm guessing the guage is good and it's just the sending unit that has gone bad. So that's why I'm replacing it. I shouldn't have to even touch the guages / cluster or any of that if I'm just doing the sending unit, right?

Mine is right near the oil filter. I'll take a pic when I do the install Friday or Saturday.

So I just installed the new sending unit and the guage still shows no oil pressure. What else do I need to check? There's plenty of oil in it.. and I'm pretty new to working on my own vehicles so I don't know what else to check unless it's the guage itself.
