Oil pressure question

Oil pressure question
When I start up my V6, 93 4Runner in the morning it has very good oil pressure. Throughout all types of driving day and night the oil pressure remains great. My question is - Why when I come to an idle at a stop light does the oil pressure slowly drop to an almost non-existant pressure? As soon as I accelerate it goes back up to normal. Is this something to be concerned with? I read my owners manual and it says the pressure will decreade at an idle. But mine shows almost no pressure at an idle after the engine has warmed up. Thanks guys for any suggestions.

Welcome to the forums...
My '91 V6 does this too. It is even lower at idle since I switched over to synthetics more than a year ago.
I hear this is perfectly normal on this engine, and nothing to worry about.
You may also notice that your temp guage sits just under the half way mark all the time, and never moves.
This is normal to.

Hey Corey....
Thanks a lot. I feel a lot better now knowing someone elses Runner acts the same as mine in this situation. Funny you mentioned the temp gauge.... I was wondering that very thing as to why it just sits there slightly under the half way point. Thanks again for the reply! I think I'll toss back a cold one and stop my worrying!

It's not a 4Runner, but it was the last car I had with an oil pressure gauge...
I installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge in my modified 72 Beetle (oi! 8ft of stainless braided line). Once it was warmed up, the idle pressure would drop to 10psi. If I touched the throttle at all, it would jump to 45psi or so. I wouldn't worry about pressure as long as 1) it is running fine and 2) it hasn't changed recently. If your normal operating pressure drops or goes up, then you need to check the system out to ensure there aren't any problems.
