Oil Pressure?

Ok, i just got my SR5 guage cluster, and did the oil sender unit and all. And i am just wondering what the oil pressure SHOULD be reading. I have no idea what normal is, mine seems to hang around half. How long should it take to get to normal also?

about halfway is normal....going into the low zone at idle is normal too. don't stare at the factory oil pressure guage too long...they are all posessed, and could warp you mind try to figure it out..

The factory oil pressure gauge on my '93 3.0 V6 drops down to the boundary between 'lowest' and 'middle' (about 25%) at idle, and it stays parked at the boundary between 'middle' and 'next-highest' (about 75%) on the road.

I've seen others (both 4- and 6-cylinders) that seem to stay right in the middle like you describe.

A seemingly low reading at idle is normal for Toyotas.

My oil pressure gauge never gets above 5/8 of the total range and sometimes gets as low as 1/4, but it always gravitates between those two spots, but the one time I was losing oil, it bottomed out, so they do work...just on the low side of the supposed range.
