Oil Preasure

So where does your oil pressure reside durring normal driving? The reason I am asking is because mine has always seemed low. Mine is like this:

(I think this is what the needle looks like, with the "|" representing the breaks in the little bar...)

|----|---------|----|--|
...<------>..................

Mine stays in between the brackets <> in normal driving.

What about you guys? Does that seem too low?

Looks about the same as my '93, with the 3.0.

My 3.0 runs a bit higher, but I use heavy weight oil because of leaks and hot temps. here

My 3.0L ('93 XtraCab) only drops as low as you indicated when idling warm. During regular driving it stays up around the boundary between the wide / center mid-range and the top-tier. It's been like that all it's 12-year life. The one time it started registering in your stated range while driving I had the garage check it out. Turned out to be a fading sensor, which I had replaced...

Interesting... I have had this one since Feb. of 2000 and for the last 100,000+ miles. It has always been as I posted. I have had Castrol 5w30, Castrol 10w30, and Castrol 30 in it and it never really changed. After my rebuild, the only oil to ever touch it has been Mobil One and it is still the same. You think it is a sensor or is this normal? I only have one person to match mine so far... maybe both of ours are going dead...

Could just be sensor fatigue... It happens... As I recall, I had mine checked / replaced at something like 90K miles. My '93 has only used Mobil 1 - usually 15W-50 spring through fall - its whole life.

The reason I had it checked is because having sufficient oil in the engine doesn't mean it's doing you sufficient good. It's gotta circulate... Abnormally low oil pressure (absent gauge wackiness) is not a good sign.
