Oil Pan will not seal on a 3.4L

Hello everyone!
So, I've trying to re-seal the oil pan but no luck. The pan is leaking where it comes in contact with the timing cover, I was told by a friend to only apply the gray RTV, without using the cork gasket, and still leaking really bad. Any suggestions? Should I used the gasket and RTV? I'm on my third attempt to seal this damn thing!!!!!

Pick up a tube of oil FIPG from the nearest Toyota. Be sure the sealing surface is smooth, debris free, and wipe both mating surfaces with a solvent like carb cleaner or acetone before applying the FIPG. The FIPG has a short open time so be ready to get the pan on and torqued down pronto.

No. The Toyota FIPG is all you need to use.

I cant believe they still sell cork gaskets when there are modern gaskets like Felpro. Ditch the cork, get a quality gasket from Felpro and apply a thin film of oil resistant RTV on both side and torque it down. The FIPG works at the factory because they have a clean dry surface. Its almost impossible to stop oil from draining from the block on a used motor.

As others have said, do not use cork or other pre-formed gaskets. The pan seals best with a form in place gasket. Toyota FIPG or RTV will work fine. I've used RTV and never had a problem with it leaking and I've dropped the oil pan a couple of times. I'd make sure your pan isn't bent or something. Also, make sure the mating surface is clean. Get a wire brush on the drill and that makes easy work of scraping the old stuff off clean.
