NOPE...He told me Toyota fuel filters are made to last as long as the car so replacing that would be pointless. That was my first question and that was his answer. What a clown!!!!!

He said the fuel filter was designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle!? hahaha. *sorry... i find that quite amusing* Ive grown up under the wing of an experienced mechanic, and i'll tell you this, there is no such thing as ANY FILTER lasting a car's lifetime... Word of caution, it would be wise to stear clear of that mechanic again, as those type are the ones who tend to cause more problems ON TOP of current ones. Your poor 'yota =( lol

The 99+ 3.4L tranny filters don't ever need to be replaced, or so I've been told. Toyota made them out of some special synthetic material or something....not positive though. Maybe someone here can verify.

I notice after I do an Oil change that the oil on the dip stick says full but after I start it and run it I always have to top it up after because the oil goes into the oil filter and so fourth. Hopes this helps.

You may need to go to a higher viscosity. Try using 10w-40 instead of 10w-30. After 100K+ miles, you probably should be running 10w-40 in it anyway. Of course, that's if the engine ran Dino oil since new.

Are you 100% sure those are the actual miles on it? You never know. It could have 310K miles not 110K.

Oh yeah, get a new mechanic!

You know. I had the Toyota dealer tell me the same thing about my fuel filter never needing to be changed. In fact her exact words where "Toyota doesn't recomend changing the fuel filter because it's a closed system" I had her order me one anyways. Found that after cutting open my "never needs to be replaced" fuel filter it was brown with gunk. Dont know what's up with the "doesnt need to be replaced" mumbo jumbo, isn't a fuel filter like standard maintenence?
