Hi there I am going to say 3k miles for this reason.
1. Wheeling causes the oil to break down quicker based on the increased heat that is generated from the sporatic driving involved with off-roading. Dirt from the trails also gets into the oil and can cause issues. Better to just do it and have nice clean oil :^)

Since this is going to be your first oil change, do it at 3,000. You are breaking in your motor right now. Lots of particles although microscopic, are in your oil which is normal for the break-in period. I would play it safe and change the oil. Maybe consider synthetic after your next oil change. I run Amsoil and love it. Good luck.

Free oil changes for life? How'd you get that deal? Is your dealer saying 5k just for your first, or for all subsequent changes as well? I know the book says 3500, but my dealer says 3k, and that's when I do it out of habit from previous vehicles.
