Shhh! If all goes as planned, I'll be running STX on 10/30, the final event of the SCCA season. I think it'll do well, VVT-i shines on corner exit. In reading the specs, the ultra-short 1-2 gears will be perfect for auto-x, and the optional big-brake kit will help.

Towing for Xrunner?

Hello

I'm a newbie here.. Sorry if this is a repost. Will the 2005 X-Runner have the towing package available for it? I want the car-like handling and need at least a 3000lb towing capacity. This looks like a more affordable alternative to the new Magnum.

Thanks

I am sure it will tow at least 3,000 lbs, probably closer to 5,000 lbs.

The problem is that I still need a towing "package" due to long distance towing. With the hook up for the tail lights and a class IV hitch.. Both of these are included in the towing package but they didn't include the towing package as being an option on the X-Runner here-

Yet they said under specs that it would be capable of towing up to 3,500 lbs. Does it make sense for them to make a V6 pick up you can't really tow with? Perhaps those Bilsteins aren't up to it or this is just a mistake?

Does anyone know when these things are supposed to be hitting dealer floors?

I'm kind of dissapointed if this won't work out, it seemed like a great deal.

PS: Your Celica rocks by the way, I love the AllTrac

I doubt it, they haven't made a functional hood scoop since the ST 205.

My understanding is that the Tow Package is to increase the 4.0L's towing capacity from 5,000 to 6,500. Don't quote me on this, but I believe that all models can tow 3,500.

I think Bob (BT17R) said that they hit the show rooms on Oct 18th. But it may only be for test drive-demo purposes only.

Thanks. It took me over 1 1/2 years to find it, but it was worth the wait. Now I just need to get my wife the 05 Tacoma, so I can daily drive my 4Runner and make the Celica a weekend-warrior!

I called my local dealer (Like they were going to tell me anything) and he could neither confirm nor deny the 18th date. But he did say that they had start getting a lot of new Tacoma 05 literature into the dealership. He also said he expected to go to training soon.

When I asked him about the X-runner, he said he had no idea, but usually Toyota delays release vehicles like that until after the initial release.

My local dealer said that they will have one Tacoma on Oct. 15 for test drives and that all models will roll-out soon after that.

I was talking to a sales manager for Toyota yesterday. He said that they are at the train depot waiting to be delivered, but they are waiting for a date from Toyota. He said that they can't get their trucks yet because Toyota wants them all to hit the dealerships at the same time.

I've seen invoice prices on them. Gross profit margins seem to be cut, dealers will need to take skinny deals and make it up through planned increased volume. If incentives arrive this year (doubtful, but crazy things happen in December), they'll be small. There's not much dealing headroom, and at least on the West coast, expect "market adjustments" for awhile.
