O2 Sensor ? Can I run w/o one of them????

Ok guys just threw the code for my O2 sensor after the cat as being bad. My question is can I run without this sensor and will it hurt anything? I need to replace the exhasut so I was gonna replace that part of the pipe too with a straight pipe in place of it and not put a sensor back in. My Runner is a '98. Was just wondering if anyone can help me out with this. Thanks

I thought the front one gives the input to the ECU for A/F mixture and the rear is only used for emission? I could be wrong.

the rear is for emissions, your cel will always be on if its removed, also if you remove the cat and put a strightpipe thats a federal, jailable offense, so is removing the rear o2 sensor as its emission related...
