Noisy Lifters?

Hey all. I've been hearing this ticking sound from the engine comp everytime I start up my rig. It's noisier in the morning when the engine is still cold and gradually goes away as the engine gets warm. I'm not too sure if it's one of the lifters though. Any idea what it is? And if it is in fact the lifter(s), is it bad for the engine? How much will it cost me to have it taken care of? I just reach 60K miles and I'm planning to have the timing belt, water pump and all belts replaced when I get back from Boston and Gloucester(sp?) on the first week of July. Thanks all.

George

engine noise

based on your description, I think I have the same noise in my '01 tacoma 2.7L. I took it to some mechanics thinking it was my valves or something, and they said it was probably just piston knock. I have read about that on some internet searches, here is one site (http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/jk/020320.htm). Basically, I have heard that it is "OK" and "all these new engines make that noise..." It has something to do with the heat expansion rates of the pistons versus the cylinder and the tight tolerances causing a tapping or clicking noise until things are all warmed up. My Yoda is running well, and I've noticed the noise for about 8 months now. I hope it is "OK" like they say....
