hi guys, need to find out what's wrong in my truck.

its a 95 taco 4wd 4 cyl 2.7L reg cab and manual trany.

My truck makes a kinda loud ticking sound when going in reverse, sounds more like a banging noise. the sound seems to be comming from the trany and it only does it in reverse.

I can feel the banging noise in the steering wheel, its almost as if the u-joint were loose or if the shafts were loose, you know something that's rotating and hitting something as it rotates (something is comming loose inside the trany?).

Does anybody know what the hell this noise is? and have you had it fixed?

any comments, sugetions will be greatly appreciated...

 

Sounds like you may have chunked a tooth or 2 on your reverse gear. I would drain the tranny and look for chunks.

 

Have you checked the transmission mount ?
