I would highly suggest buying it back, because you'll be able to part out a lot of stuff. If you did settle on the $8k, you should ask them to sell it back to you for less than usual, because $8k is really low.
I know I would be interested in the leather seats, door panels and many other things as well, since they are in such good condition.
Are those TRD Supercharged letters metal or stickers?

Btw, I think you are right. My drivers steering hub (on the '94) looks just like the one showing the airbag released. It could easily be an airbag, and I wouldn't know it. Toyota must have been "practicing" with the necessary style.

Glad your girls are OK. You can buy back your truck (salvage) with some policies/insurance.
Find a good chiropractor in your area, helps with posture problems down the road. Each whiplash injury will add onto other injuries, and in most cases you have PIP coverage on your policy.
Part requests already...you could make back some $ I guess.

I have a general question relating to this kind of scenario:
If your vehicle is totalled and you have numerous modifications (like most of us), will the insurance company let you retrieve those modifications? If the supercharger wasn't comprimised, could you pull it out? What if you have a nice sound system, etc? I assume they won't payout a claim on aftermarket items like that, so can you retrieve them?

Ive been told by a ins. rep. that if you do mod your vehicle, ex. aftermarket bumpers, SC, stereo, etc. to add them to your policy, in the event its stolen, or totaled, you get either get them back, or paid for them, if not, your SOL. at the very least, keep all the reciepts for your high dollar items.

The key there is adding them to your policy. Most people neglect to add the dollar amount to the policy. It will also increase your premium but its worth it for me.

well this got me thinking, so I called my agent (Farmers Ins.) and asked him:
1) If I add custom bumpers, and my vehicle gets totaled, will they replace them ?
Answer was, yes, as long as I have the reciepts to prove that i had the bumpers and what I paid for them. no need to add them to the policy, and there is NO dollar limit on the bumpers. but I have to keep Full Coverage.
2) what about a stereo system ?
Answer was, on stereos, there is a limit, $5000.00 (with my policy) and full coverage is needed.
3) If I was off-roading/4wheeling, and roll the vehicle, is it covered ?
answer was, YES. it is covered no matter where you are. as long as you are not racing. he said he takes his Dodge wheeling from time to time.
now its time to start wheeling it harder, lol

Mom had it on the olds...
Don't see why she wouldn't have it on the Runner...
