no 4wd on my auto

I have a 04 taco 3.4L auto with push button 4x4. i havent used my 4x4 in a while and just out of the blue, i was going to drive around a bit in 4x4 just to make sure everything was working.

anyways, when i push the 4x4 button, i hear actuation, however i do not get any binding when driving in circles. it drives like its in 2WD. I do not get a 4x4 light on the dash either.

so far i have checked the vacuum line that goes to the black solenoid/actuator, made sure there was a good connection (no broken or cracked lines), i checked all the connectors down there and that seems to be good.

i read another post on here that said if my tires are unevenly worn then i the 4x4 will not engage.

anyone have any solutions for me?

Any luck on solving your problem? I'm having a similiar problem... havent used 4x4 all summer and I think my actuator is sticking due to lack of use. Wondering if you solved your problem and if so, how? As for your uneven tire wear... that wouldnt stop the 4x4 from engaging..... now if you have different size tires on the front than whats on the back, it will cause a problem, it will make it harder to engage and disengage....and cause a hard clunk!!!
