Question New to Yota's

Like I mentioned in the intro thread, I picked up a 1997 4Runner SR5, and I can't figure out why the rear cargo light does not go on when in the door position, and I lift the hatch? I looked around the outside looking for a switch, couldn't find one...am I imagining a functionality that should be there??

Makes sense to me that when I open the hatch, the light should go on...but what do I know

Thanks,
Robert

There should be a switch to the right of the light with 3 positions, on - off - door. I can't imagine why they'd stiff you on that. Can you get the light to come on in any circumstance?

I don't know if its like this on all 4runners, but there should be a little switch on the light itself and also one a little to the left about 6 inches under the steering wheel somewhere.

Sorry, should have been more clear, there is that switch, and it does come on, when I move it to on, but does not come on when the switch is in the door position with the hatch open

I sprayed the latch area with WD-40 and never had the problem again. The door open switch is tied to the rear door lock button, I believe, so you might wanna check that out.

The Cargo Light should come on when the hatch is open. Don't know where the switch is though.

I have a similar problem where the light only comes on for the passenger doors being open and not the drivers door...

So, just putting this out there, but did you by chance check/replace the bulb?
