New vehicle: How many miles before switching all fluids to synthetic?
Hello all.
04 Taco 3.4L 5-speed 4x4.
I plan to switch to sythetic oils(in everything) at 5000 miles.
Is that enough miles for the engine, diffs, trans, t-case to 'run in'?
I am sure this question has been asked many many times.
And if I missed in a FAQ somewhere. My bad.
Any thoughts?

I checked with the stealer before I changed to synthetic regarding warranty. They stated that changing to synthetics was fine, but you had to perform fluid changes at the recommended frequency. Since my intent was to extend my oil change frequency, I waited until I was out of warranty (or a few thousand before, if I recall).

Well, I'm waiting to get to my 20k service before swapping out to synthetic (engine, tranny?, trans, diffs) I have used normal oil in 2.5k changes up till now 17k miles.
I dont know what the rule is, but my BMW came out with synthetic and did the first service at 15k.
My experience with most new cars are that they tend to run in till about 10k miles, as mileage and performance tend to increase till then. SO you might want to wait till 10k.
