Just bought a 2000 tacoma regular cab 4x4, 2.7 5 spd and thought i'd say hello. Hopefully I 'll be able to contribute some to this board. I have a few questions so maybe someone can help. First, the doors pop when I open them (once about half way open and again when they are almost all the way open). It appears to be the mechanism that holds the door open on an incline. Both doors do it and it is a little annoying. Is this common? Is there an easy fix. Second, the 2.7 feels pretty strong but it is a little noisy at idle. Is this just how the 2.7 sounds? All in all I love the truck and look forward to being a tacoma owner.

good truck almost exactly the same as mine but i've gota 99 and its black...

hmm mine's not very loud at all. maybe you're used to riding a bike or something, then it might seem loud in comparison. hehe maybe you've got something wrong with your exhaust. hole in it maybe. the 2.7 is pretty quite for me though, i want it louder.

i dont know about the doors....

 

I can't help you with the doors, but I know my engine idles quietly.

BTW: Cool to see some more 2.7 guys here!

 

Thanks for the replies. Maybe loud wasn't the best word. I guess it just sounds a little rough. Nothing serious, just not what I expected. It still has three months of the original warranty left so maybe I'll just take it to a toyota dealer for a check up.

Your door sound sounds like nothing a little white lithium spray lube won't fix. Gotta love the 4 cylinders of FURY and 5 speed combo!!! Congrats on the purchase.
