He will not unless under very special circumstances, and with the Trekmasters you have to use a top out spacer. The only time you do not is if you use adjustable bilies b/c well...they're ADJUSTABLE

But it seems most people are using 4wd TRD Tundras with a top plate spacer? My head is literally hurting from trying to dig out info from all the threads! What about 2wd TRD Tundras? I'm looking for one to use without a spacer to pair with OME 906's in the rear.

I've got a set of Trekmasters to go with these, so would these not really be ideal for TRD Tundras? I'm looking for ride height similar, but not more than, an OME 881.
Not the oldest thread I've seen get bumped but this is a good one.
This is where I got my idea to lift my 3rd gen...oh the days.

I'm somewhat confused on something about this. I have a tacoma so I'm just interested in the front. I currently have stock springs with billy 5100's set to 2.5" preload. I'm looking for better ride quality and that extra half inch of lift.
Can I grab a whole coil and shock setup from tundra? TRD Bilsteins for 4x2's will work but from what I understand bilstien 5125 would be best? Which shock would give the longest downtravel. The problem with lifting a tacoma 3" with shocks made for a tacoma is that the shocks are almost fully extended. will this setup remedy this or is it the same problem just with beefier equipment. the bottom eye for mounting the shock and the top 3 holes on the gusset/tower thing match up correct. this is 100% bolt on.

these revtek spacers are just a preload spacer made to fit the tundra coil setup?

sorry if my terminology isn't that great. still don't understand a lot about IFS. haven't been able to follow the whole droop thing with the measurements and stuff.

Thanks in advance for any help in explaining this to me.

The 3" lift limit is pretty much a limitation of the entire stock IFS system as a whole. It's not possible to just throw in longer/taller shocks/springs than the 3" lift and expect it all to work--in fact you would be hard pressed to even get them to fit in there. And the 3" lift is actually really pushing it at that--you WILL be killing CV boots and the CVs as well if you off-road it much.

If you want more travel or more lift out of the IFS, start looking into long-travel IFS kits and body lifts. And if you want anything more than that, start looking into a solid axle swap.

Is my thinking correct on this.
If there's a 3 inch suspension lift and 6 inch larger tires (3 inch extra axle clearance) the cv angle remains the same.

No. CV angle is not directly related to size of tires.

why not if you lift the dif 3" (suspension lift) and lift the hub assembly 3" (tires) you have lifted both sides of the cv an even 3 inches.

I would recommend going out and laying under your Tacoma checking out the suspension and learning how it works.

But to answer your question, the main flaw in that thinking is that bigger tires do not just lift the hub assembly, it "lifts" EVERYTHING--the entire vehicle. There are other issues in the way you're thinking about it though...

Question time. I have the springs and stock billies right now, and my LC coils are one the way, so I'm wanting to pull the trigger on my lift ASAP. Do I need the tundra isolator if I am using a top plate spacer? It isnt mentioned in this write up, but others say you need them. I was wanting to use the Tundra coils and billies with my stock top hat and this. Will that work? If I do need the isolator, where is the best place to get them?

That is a top plate spacer so it goes on top of the strut assembly, you will still need the tundra isolator...Wheeler's has them for $14

Which Air bag to use with OME N91S, Downey 3.5 Rear Coil, OME N86 Rear Shocks

I am thinking of installing the Firestone "Coil-Rite" Air Bag Helper Springs (Rear) #4123 with my current setup-OME N91S, Downey 3.5 Rear Coil, OME N86 Rear Shocks. Will this work? I looked at the installation and it says original vehicle coil. If this is not going to work, any recommendation would be appreciated.

You don't want to increase the droop, this will cause the CVs to overextend causing failure. This is one major problem with spacer lifts that mount on top of the coil/ shock combo. Even a top out spacer can cause overextention on some vehicles.

Has anyone had any experience with 4x4 double cab trd springs on a 3rd gen? I know they wont be exactly the same as the ideal yy/yb combo but that's not what im asking. I think they will be progressive (trd), and will be stiffer (more weight from the double cab), and am hoping they wont be TOO firm.

Not unless you get a bracket lift or SAS.

Does each year of the Tundra have different colored dots for the front coil springs? I found a set of 4wd Tundra 2003 springs and the one spring has the red/yellow dots on it, and the owner is looking at them to see what the other spring has on it.

He said that his 2003 Tundra 4WD is a non TRD model.

Will this work for my 99 4Runner with 3" ToyTek spacers?

What is the normal price to pay for a set of used front coils from a Tundra?

Thanks,

Doug

The only Tundra coils that will work are the TRD b/y & y/y and the price varies depending on region, used or unused, etc
