New runner

Hi just bought a 2000 4runner today, white 4x4 loaded with 159k from the dealership... any recalls or issues i should know about? I got a good deal on it too, traded my wrecked '93 runner in for $2500 because of a promotion where any vehicle you can push pull or drag in there gets at least that, also sold the tires off that truck beforehad so i made money off it in the end . gonna be my daily driver so not too many mods going in, maybe intake/ exhaust and some cosmetic stuff, who knows though. I'll have pics of it soon.

2000-2002 4runners with higher milage can suffer from "strawberry milkshake"...IE trans. cooler inside radiator leaking, possibly ruining trans...

I would bypass the internal radiator trans cooler with an external unit,ASAP.

word to the wise.

So, went to the dealership to get it this morning and rather than fix the stone chip in the windshield I pointed out to them they recomended a place for me to take it. They had agreed to fix it yesterday when I bought it. On top of that they gave it to me with the tank so empty the fuel light was on. I never even drove it off the lot. Went back inside and put the keys on the salesmans desk and got my money back. Good thing it was a mitsubishi dealership because the toyota one has a few 3rd gens I'm going to look at when I finish my work week.

That's why I hate buying from dealerships. I'd look to see if there are any for sale by owner.
