New paint...Coming Up!
So it's been a while since I've done any mods on either of my trucks. Finally getting that itch again and I've decided I'm going to go ahead and paint the grey cladding and bumpers on my truck black.
A friend has become very good with paint and I can get this done at a great deal compared to what I would pay from a shop. I'm going to have it all painted black except for the silver and gold on the front grille.
Starting in 3 weeks! Can't wait.

Toyvana, paint's going to look great.
Miller, Weathertech.com carries in-channel vent visors. AVS does as well...probably a bit cheaper too.
Toy, since we're on the subject of window visors, how do you like the in-channel ones compared to the stick on? Pros or Cons?

The only reason I bought the visors was to hopefully keep the sill water on top of the 4Runner from running into my window and down the inside of my door whenever I would stop or go down a hill.
Water still runs into my truck but not as bad as before...but it's nice to be able to keep the window cracked a little when it's raining. That is really the only positive thing about visors.
The con of the in channel visor is the window will auto roll down when you try to auto roll it up because it bumps into the visor...so you have to hold down the button sometimes.
I don't mind that con when stick-ons are somewhat 'tacky' (pun intended) in my opinion.

Had the cowl, spoiler, tow hitch and roof rack painted factory black this week. Here's the pics:
Cleanest my engine has been since I bought this SUV 4 years ago:
...and finally, leaving the dealership all cleaned up.

The cladding is a pain, but to do it right pop off the inner door panels and you will have access to the clips which hold it to the door and you can easily unclip them as opposed to just pulling and popping them off. This will decrease the odds of breaking anything. Also there is a small line, approx 1/4 of and inch, of 3M double sided tape on the top edge of the cladding. I found this came off easiest by warming up the area with some low heat from a blow dryer. You could also heat from the inside of the door.
Have fun!

There should be a silver color matching rubber gasket between the flare and the fender.
I have never really been able to make anything stick to that gasket for more then a season.
Seems like the rubber gasket expands and contracts with temperature and eventually starts to crack and peel.
I have used the flex paint for plastic bumpers with no success.
Let us know what you use, and how it holds up.
