if an ASE master tech doesnt see any long term negative side affects of the silencer mod, that sells me.

i only have one question about the 3.0 mod though. if you're making the tube out of aluminum, won't the engine's heat heat the tube up? the colder the air going in, the better. just sounds like a downfall this system might have. can anybody prove me wrong on that?

See the "user cp" button up top ^? That's what you need to push. Then you can access your PM's from within.

Hope this helps.

I thank you all for the warm welcome to the Boards.

I am completely overwhelmed in trying to respond to all of you. Even while on the phone with my customers at work, and people standing in line to see me, i was trying to fit in answers to private messages.

I hope to try and answer them to the best of my ability. I worry some of my answers will be upseting (in regards to what is covered and what is not covered by warranty etc. etc. ) But even I have to play by the same rules.

I have always been known for being honest.

Also, I have never admitted to having all the answers. However, my answers are always to the best of my knowledge.

can anybody answer my previous question about the aluminum tube getting too hot from the engine heat on the 3.0 silencer mod?

Actually, Aluminum is a poor conductor of heat. It's one of the reasons Aluminum is used for Electrical Conduit. I would have used Aluminum, but it was too expensive for what I wanted to do.

Hope this helps.

I am not too familiar with this modification, I have never seen it done before coming to these boards today.

However, the answer to the question can be easily answered if someone can use a infra-red temp probe on one thats hot. I such a probe available for use, if I ever see one.

But i dont suspect it to be a problem at all. Even if it was, you could just rap it in Exhaust Header Tape. Might even look neat.

aluminum piping from the exhaust shop costs too much? i figured the shop would charge me about $15 bucks for the pipe, bent and all.

maybe instead of header wrap, i could paint the tube with some special hi temp paint that resists heat... if there is such a thing?

another idea off the top of my head for the 3.0 mod. i wonder if it would be possible to artificially cool the tube? like, say, get some kind of wrap that uses electricity to cool itself and attach it to the pipe. if it got cold enough, that'd probably be the best cold air intake you could get. or would condensation be a problem? i dunno... i'm just thinking out loud here.

You are becoming ever close to having designed an Intercooler.

Thinking is good.
