New to me 97 SR5 - suspension question

So I picked up this 97 4Runner for mostly winter duty (my daily driver has 2-wheels). It was in need of new tires, so I picked up this wheel/tire combo off craigslist from a 2011 4Runner. They are 17x7 with 265/70 tires. I really like the look, but the additional unsprung weight is pretty noticeable over bumps.

It seems to be all original, 4wd automatic, without rear locking diff. The vehicle originally had the 15" wheels, which I understand means it had smaller front brakes and suspension components.

My question is: What is my best course of action for smoothing out the bumps, assuming I want to keep this wheel/tire combo?

Thanks, first time poster here.

Lee

Have any idea how old the shocks and springs are?

I'm not sure really. The rear shocks have been replaced with "Reflex" brand. The springs and front setup could very well be original. 260k miles and counting.
