new to me '97 runner, questions
Sad and glad all at the same time, bought a 97 4runner last night, v6 auto, sold my trusty '90 an hour ago, v6 5speed with 362K on it....
So, things to tinker with on my new one..
- no key fobs, any advice on getting one that will work with it?
- ac doesnt work, seems it doesnt have power, have not had alot of time to look into it yet, but the light doesnt light up, so must be power or fuse, possibly the compressor clutch short?
- drivers window, when it goes up, it pushed the door out at the top, guessing a bad track or something.
Bumpers have rust holes, but the body suprising under had very minimal rust, compared to pictures Ive seen online. So glad the sunroofs on these tip up, my 90 only went back

ok, today the light on the ac button lights up, but still no compressor kick on, fixed the drivers window, it was out of the front track somehow.

You'll probably need some gauges to check on the A/C issue. At the very least a low pressure gauge (connects to the recharge port). The compressor is locked out for both pressure too low (on the low side) and too high (on the high side). Just to hazard a guess, it's probably low pressure, due to a leak, but it could be a lot of things. Worn clutch (air gap too large to 'grab' the plate and latch it), busted electromagnet in the clutch, wiring to the clutch, bad high pressure switch, bad low pressure switch, etc.
