hi all
i am new here and have some questions. i am lookin to get a 01-04 tacoma and i want the 3.4l adn a 5sp.... i was just cureious what kind of mileage you all are gettin out of yours??? and if any of you have a supercharger i was wondering what kind of mileage you get with that to??? i am in college and i can't afford to buy diesel anylonger i can get 18 now and im wondering how much better a toyota would be... if any with the mods i would be doing

 

you'd be getting the same with a non supercharged model highway driving...maybe 20 if your lucky...most get about 16-17mpg supercharged or not. Supercharger your looking at premium fuel though so you definitely won't be gaining any ground there.

 

04 Auto before lift I was getting 21mpg HWY 18 around town.After lift and running the same same size tires before the lift I am getting 19 mpg HWY and 15.5 mpg around town..

 

Buying a 4wd truck and worrying about fuel economy is a bit of an oxymoron. I can also tell by your post that you are not an English major.

 

Clearly you haven't been paying attention to diesel prices... Yes, he wouldn't be saving as much as regular but diesel is $$$$$ these days. Back when my truck was stock I would easily see over 20mpg, bigger more aggressive tires is what kills it. Adding an S/C is debatable and depends more on your right foot than without it. It also depends on what fuel mods you do b/c chances are your going to need it.

Actually diesel prices down here are about the same as premium, as some stations it's just a cent more per liter...

well the way i look at it i could drive a ford and get 10mpg or drive a tacoma and get 25ish... so oxymoron or not i still see a bit of a difference there...

15-18 is more realistic w/ a 3.4. So the savings just might not justify the expense.

I have a stock 3.4L Auto and I get 21MPG on the highway and 16-17MPG around town. My old 98 supercharged 4Runner got the exact same mileage (of course, used premium fuel).

You might want to get a 4-cyl, 5-speed, if you're wanting something in the 25MPG range.
