New hybrid toyota, power of a v8 in a v6
I just found this, coming out in march, a toyota highlander hybrid. Supposidly has the power and acceleration of a v8 in a v6. If toyota came out with a hybrid 4runner, that would be awesome, i would definitely buy it. My 4runner right now is getting 15mpg, if I could buy a 4 runner that got 30mpg highway. What do you guys think, would you buy a hybrid 4runner?
Heres the website of the highlander.

It says on their website that they will spread the toyota hybrid technology across the toyota line of vehicles. So there is a chance a 4runner will become hybrid.

Assuming typical toyota reliability and what not, I'd buy a hybrid 4Runner... just has to be able to tow my boat.
Are they still talking about a hybrid FTX in the near future?

i agree, but also i disagree, lol, the rav4 and highlander are good for casual drivers who dont need that capable of a suv, they just want more passenger/cargo space for a cheaper price

well if that is the case expect the value of your runners to drop as it looks like everyone will be dumping them...
I doubt everyone can afford to dump their old 4runner to pick up a new just because it is now a hybrid. It will probably also be more expensive than the regular nonhybrid 4runner (plus $3-$5k?).
I wouldn't mind having a hybrid 4runner, but I will wait until it has been on the market for a years to work out any potential issues.

i read an article somewhere that toyota has the plan to bring hybrid versions of all their vehicles (cars/trucks/suvs) by 2011. thats only 6 years from now and a very reasonable goal.

Yea i would not go out and buy one when they first come out, ill just wait till my current 4runner dies with no more hope left, hopefully a long time from now
Edit: wait do toyotas actually die?, i think they just run forever
