HAHA I love my new HID lights I got the kit from JAPAN IMPORT SHOP on Ebay.

With shipping to Alberta they cost me $96.21 plus the cost of the 20amp fuses $2.00. I'm very happy with this product and they look great lol but the pic is crappy so you can't really tell. Later I will put up a better pic.

legal? Kinda. HID is legal but it is technically supposed to be used in a projector, and the color can?t be any higher then about 7000K. But it is pretty much accepted that they are fine as long as they are not dangerously bright to other drivers. If a cop is not bothered by them then you are pretty much ok.

Now in some states like Texas there are loop hopes that allow you to run them without problems. Like in Texas you can use up to 4 driving lights on road and even use underbody lighting (as long as it is not red) fine. Just depends on the state laws.

And I am going to be converting my fogs to HID as soon as I get the $$$. I looked at it and it should not be hard, that hard part will be trying to keep the light water proof in case you stick it in the drink.

 

People on Ebay don't charge actual shipping cost for shipping. They charge higher shipping because 1. its a way to increase their profit margin while giving the appearance that the actual product's cost is cheaper and 2. the fees that you pay to ebay for the transaction are a percentage of the selling cost, not the total w/ shipping included.

It's not uncommon, but this particular company doesn't appear to sell HID's in a 3000k temperature.

 

Why would you want a 3000K HID light? 4100K - 5000K is the best. They are whiter and i can say from personal experiance that it is easier on the eyes and looks brighter on the road.

 

He asked about HID fogs. Unless he meant just putting HID's in the fog location.

yes i want it to look like day if i want it too. but i want it to be able to handle the East Texas Muck (red clay/gumboish/soupy stuff for those that don't know) when i decide to go play.

hahhaa i bought mine from the same dude off ebay...and unless you have the old headlights, the ones with all the lines on the glass (which i doubt since your trucks a 99) I would say the way you took the pic is causing it to look much worse than it really is.

Mine look fine on my 99, i had my gf sit in her car and me behind her with the lights on and she didn't think it looked too bright, most stock heavy duty pickup truck headlights always seem way too bright in her car.

Oh and i also put in a relay instead of just changing the fuse...don't like the idea of just changing fuses to make it work...since the kit is so cheap it makes me wonder how long it will last so I installed the relay in a way that would allow easy removal with out hacking the stock wiring, just in case the bulbs fail at night its a simple unplug and plug the stock bulbs in.

You know of all the things you have on your turck i am TRULY amazed you don't have a set of HID's yet!

The ones he has are 35w, the 50w version ARE way to bright for on road use. they are pretty much for off road only although i would love to see a bi-xenon with a 35w low beams and 50w high beams. the best of both worlds!

 

why such low low wattage? im running 95/100W soon to go to 110W on stock wires
