New Guy 01 SR5 couple ?'s

Hi everyoney,I just purchased a 01 4Runner SR5 55,000 miles.I have always liked the look of 4Runners and a few weeks ago I was fortunate enough for someone to crash into me and total my car.Anyway I had a couple of questions ,I noticed that when I start the truck the vsc off light comes on,the trac control light says on.I am not to concerned after some research it seems like vsc is a PITA anyway. Also I noticed the shifter handle on the automatic trans. moves when the suspension flexes, not to much, just stood out to me because my Jeep does not do this....Thanks in advance P.S. this is my first Toyota.

That's completely normal for automatics, nothing to worry about.

And congrats on the new 4runner!

The lights dont stay on, after watching it today I dont think there is a problem,it does make some strange sounds when i lose traction on snow and ice though.

according to the manual the strange noise is just the traction working, so not to worry about that......congrats on the new 4runner....is it a sport edition?

Congrats on the new purchase, you will love owning the 4Runner, I have loved my 2 since I acquired them both starting a couple years ago, I just now started being able to mod the '00 since I yanked it from my wife and gave her my '02 Mustang GT.

the noise you hear (ticking) is Trac. its stopping your power and warning you that youve lost traction.

it sucks.
