After dealing with a sagging front Daystar spacer lift up front, I decided it was time to do something about it. My decision was between the OME 882 and 883 springs. After speaking with several people, most thought the 883's would be too stiff and give too much lift considering I'm running a stock front bumper. So, I pulled the trigger and ordered a pair of 882's from Gerone at trdparts4u.com (thanks for the great deal). For those that are interested, I've posted my lift and prelift measurements. All are from the ground to my limited fender flares. I'll be installing the 882's and a diff drop tomorrow and will post pictures ASAP.

Stock - front: 34.5", rear: 34.5" (265/70 R16 tires)

Current front: 37.25" spacers (285/75 R16 tires)
Lifted height: 2.75", 1.15" from tires alone
Net spacer lift: 1.6", sagged almost a full inch from new

Current rear: 39.25" LC coils (285/75 R 16 tires)
Lifted height: 4.75", 1.15" from tires alone
Net LC coil lift: 3.6", sagged ~ .5" from new

Well, the 882's are still sitting idle in my garage as of now. I ran into a problem when installing them, as Gerone from trdparts4u.com is all too aware. (Thanks for all of your advice and help Gerone!) I took the strut assembly off and brought it to a shop to have the new springs installed. After an hour or so, the tech comes out and says that there's no way that spring will fit. It seems that my old Rancho shocks don't extend far enough to allow the springs to be installed. If they could've gotten the springs mounted, the coils would've been touching, a very bad idea!

After hours of research, it seems that most all of the shock companies install an internal bump stop and spring into their shocks, which hampers full extention. I know this to be true of Rancho, Monroe and Gabriel shocks, and probably most others as well. I spoke with the tech departments at each company, and got the facts straight from them. So, a phone call to ARB/OME in Washington confirmed that both the OME N91S and N91SC shocks have a full extended length of 18.5", while all of the other manufacturers hit the internal bump stops at ~16.5" - 17", which is not enough extention to fit the 882's.

Since my Rancho shocks are shot anyway, I'll be giving Gerone a call and ordering a pair of N91SC's very soon. After everything is said and done, it appears that the only shock that will accomodate the OME 882 springs are the OME shocks. Wish me luck!

I am running the n91S up front with my 881 springs and they feel outstanding.

Thanks for the encouragement Ron! I'm thinking my ride will be pretty similar to yours as the 881's and 882's share the same spring rate. But, I'll ge getting the comfort shock instead of the firm ones. And yes, the Toyota of Dallas are awesome. Gerone has bent over backwards to help me through this and get the right parts!

I think some Ranchos might fit for you but no I am not recommending them.

881's and 882's have the same spring rate? are the 882's just longer then?

 

From what I have read, the old 882's where just streched 881's and had sagging problems. But the new version of 882's actually have two additional wraps on them. Both are ~500lb springs.
