New Bulbs

anyone get new bulbs for their 4th gen 4runner ? i got them cheap ass ones off ebay, "DT Racing". they cost $15 for a pair of 9006 and 9005's . They look pretty good, only thing is that when it rains it will aways blow out. Any ideas why ? poorly made ? i hope PIAA's, or silverstars last longer.

You must not have sealed the housing properly after installing them. If they blow when it rains, there must be moisture getting in somehow.

I put in a set of SivlerStar's and did not like them. For $25 I was hoping for a an improvemnt. They looked to aim lower and not as bright. Some others have had a much better experience with the SS's. I only did the low beams not highs or fogs.

Trick that I learned for BMW but it would also works on any car with 9006 bulbs. Go to Napa and get regular not blue bulbs by Wagner I think they called something like super bright $10, they actually made by Philips in Germany, you'll see the stamp on a bulb. Your Low beam is 9006 55W, get 9005 which is 65W. Inside the female connector there will be small plastic divider, take a utility knife and cut it off. Take a ruber round O ring from your old bulb and add it on top of the New bulb O ring, for better seal. Now you can use 65W bulb in your low beam. I did that to mu wife BWM 2 years ago and the bulb still works and it improved lo beam, and you wouldn't get any flashes.
