Just to set the story straight, I had my bumper off a few weeks ago to weld in a ring for the exhaust and pound out a few dents(which took all of 5 minutes), then re-painted it. I was supposed to take some measurments so I could make an AutoCAD file, but that will have to wait. I have pondered the idea of actually fabricating them, because of the response to my inbox and this thread has gotten. Getting the pieces laser cut and pre-bent would save me alot of time, considering I haven't had much lately. Cost would be real close to what has been stated, but I'd probably would have to run a larger batch to keep the cost down.

How does jobbing out braking and cutting make it cheaper?
1/8" wings are plenty strong enough to handle any kind of wheelin tossed at it, TJM and ARB use the same thickness material for their bumpers. The main 2x4 square tubing is 3/16" as well as the mounting plates, wihch is the same as my factory hitch. The frame isn't that strong, so making it out of thicker material doesn't provide any additional protection. If my side wings were to get hit hard enough to crush them, at least they'll bend before the frame. I've banged this bumper hard enough against rocks to the point where the side wings have sustained some denting. They flex, but there is plenty of spacing between them and the body, with a rubber strip that hides the gap, to date no body damage has occured because of my bumper.

Jobbing out would save me personal time involved in fabrication, actual cost would be higher than the Aprox. $80 it originally cost to build, so for me it would be cheaper.

BTW, I took a series of 10 photo's and merged them with PaintShop, then recruited a few Yototech member to pull off this joke.

Well, I guess it shows that people are still not 100% satisfied with what is currently available for a 3rd gen rear bumper - and are intresed in other options

MY center console is 1/8" steel. It has no dents.

My rear bumper is 3/16's steel. It has no dents.

It's not, We came up with an idea to deal with those huge side panels. I could make a mould after the prototype fillers are made. The actual bumper will be very similar to mine. The back portion of the 4th Gen frame has to be cut off, otherwise there's no way to gain breakover clearance.

BTW my bumper no longer has any dents, but expect to get a few at the end of the month

Man this was the worst joke ever. I was all ready to drop the paycheck on this, especially for that price. This is by far my favorite 3rd gen bumper. I had been waiting for this day for forever and I thought I was so close, only to have it ripped from my hands. Well if you ever decide to really produce this thing, I want to be on the list for the 1st batch. Damn I can't believe this, i'm going to bed to cry myself to sleep.

Great pull guys...
I have to agree, that bumper is awesome looking and I'd definitely love to see it on some more trucks.

I'm seriously considering having someone produce the bumper, I spoke with Tom on his design, hopefully he'll change his mind and start production. He likes some of the design characteristics of mine and it wouldn't be difficult to incorporate them into his. I'll see if I can get in touch with him and see if he's intrested.

Mojo_Risin, at the time I designed mine there was only one bumper I liked and that was the TrailCarnage's. I've tried to get Jason Demello to copy it, but lately he's been quite busy with other projects, besides I think he's more into fabricating tube type bumpers over working with sheetmetal.

There's plenty of pictures, here's one showing how well they clear when dropping off a rock and another showing a back view.

The first time I ever went out to the Hammers I dented in my stock bumper, having the tapered sides have kept me from even comming in contact, note how much clearance I still have.

Is that using the stock rubber piece from the original bumper?
Damn, that is a nice bumper - looks good as well as functional.
