New 4Runner Owner

Well finally I find another car after selling the CJ7, and I bought a '91 4runner sr5 4 door v6 5spd. It was about an hour drive back after getting it and man it felt great.

I think I got a pretty good deal on it, has had alot of work done on it lately and just 165k miles. It has got some damage on the driver side from where a semi ran him off the road and never stopped. Front fender, barely any on the rear door, but with the major damage on rear fender/quarter panel...it needs to be cut out and rewelded in for a good repair.

He was asking $1400, it was in BETTER condition than I thought, so I gave him the full $1400.

Only question so far, is the gas pedal suppose to be really stiff? And is 1st gear suppose to not have any power?

Thanks guys

Good find! I have the same runner minus the v6. Check out my page in my sig for upgade ideas. I've done a lot of stuff to mine. And yea, first gear is really low so it won't accelerate off the line well since it is geared kida like a truck.

Maybe the pedal just need some lube? For sure Toyotas are different than American cars.

Welcome!

Check out the throttle linkage on your TB for the stiff pedal problem.

Well I haven't gotten to check it (throttle body or linkage), had to get up at 7:30am to go sit in Summer School until noon...and it's been raining all damn day.

I had another problem today, seems to be isolated so far since I've ONLY driven it with the wipers on so far and it only happened this morning...

Well okay like I said it has been raining, and I drive to school, wipers are on; I get to school and try to turn them off...and they won't turn off until I kill the engine!! I'm thinking, "great something already broke". I started the engine back up tried again, same thing, wipers won't stop in the "off" position. So I fiddle with it till I'm almost late to class, and come back out and they turn off just fine when I got home and turned them off. Is this a common problem with an easy fix? Or just a fluke?
