New 2000 4Runner, laundry list of concerns. Help?!

Hello everyone, new 4runner owner here.

Just bought a 2000 Toyota 4Runner, 2WD, Base. 50k miles on the odometer. This is a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle, and just brought it home. Test drive was fine, but we all know that the problems come up after you take it home and give it the full rounds...

So, a million minor concerns are coming up, and wanted to make sure if I should either A) Pipe down because I'm being paranoid or am unfamiliar with this vehicle. Or B) Go b**** to the dealer. So here goes (have patience, please):

A) When I am stopped at a light, i sometimes hear an audible "click". Not very loud, but it is audible when the window is rolled down. Only happens every once in a while, so I don't know what that could be.

B) There is a squeak in the front, (I'm guessing something needs to be greased?)

C) The tranny fluid, to my dismay, is slightly brown. Light brown, a bit dirty. Though it still smells like fresh tranny fluid (no burnt smell or anything).

D) When moving from P to "D", the tranny shifts quickly into gear, but is a "bit" noisy. No slippage so far as I'm driving.

E) When driving in tunnels or enclosed areas, and I'm giving it the full gas, it goes just fine. But it seems to run a bit noisy, in that it "rattles" or sounds a bit louder than my little camry. Normal? No?

Any help on any of these issues would be greatly appreciated. The warranty on powertrain and such lasts until 7/2006, so I'd like to get these nailed down. Thanks!

Ursa americanus , commonly known as the black bear

If its Toyota Certified I would think the dealer would take care of you on those items, if you go back right away.

Do you mean a click or a ticking noise? My 2001 limited makes a ticking noise about half the time.

Just some thoughts & q's

A) Does it only click when you have your AC on and stopped?
B) Many people on the forum have had squeeking issues, I have had it happen a few times and it has ussually been from the sway bar bushings or the top of the strut.
C)I would definately ask the dealer. Manual tranny's use gear oil which is light brown, yours should be red- I think.
D) I don't have an auto so no help from me.
E) Have to hear it.

It's not a whole lot a help
