Picked up the wife's new(2x4)SR5 4Runner today.It's very nice,3rd row seating,DVD,17" wheels.Of course it wil never see off-road .

Congrats, and for those 4x4 nuts, you do realize that 80% of 4Runners are 2wd right, they also tow and haul things and look cool

 

yes, i read that, but plenty of women and wives go off-roading.

 

Women going offroad, I would flip out on my girlfriend if she traded the M3 for an SUV, she deserves to be nakid and cooking

Uhm,I think my truck is a little better set-up for off-road.Besides if she takes it off-road then before you know it she'll want bigger tires,lift,mods, mods, mods & no $$$$$ left for me!!!So call me selfish.

I have to admit, I see more 2wd runners around my neck of the woods Los Angeles, then 4wd. I still regret not getting a 4wd runner, even though I have a 4wd LC now.

 

Down here I rarely see the SR5 4x4, mostly just 2wd....

 

yep most runners in socal are 2wd (or is it really a 1wd?)

 

Does anyone have any info on the Trac-Loc button on the dash to the left of the steering wheel is for?I read the owners manual & that didn't make a whole lot of sense.Use it for slippery roads to stop wheel spin,but turn off if you are stuck in a ditch?

 

From Toyota themselves, 80% of the 4th Gen 4Runners will be V6 2WD models, look at some of the larger Toyota dealers, they have 400 4Runners in stock, 5 are V6 & 4WD and 2 are V8 AWD models, my brother is looking at a 4Runner in Georgia, of all the 4Runners 1 is a V8 AWD.

I read some press release that said the 4wd/awd is only a snowbelt thing, it's what sells them

 

I can't imagine not having a 4-wheel system, sure I live in San Diego - But I drive to the snow ALL the time , have family that lives in Tahoe, and we have playgrounds 30 min away for wheeling....
