Need Some Advise on Transfer Case and Actuator

All,

I have been having 4wd/ADD issues and have been trying to troubleshoot the issues.

I finally decided to take it in to the dealer today to have them diagnose and hopefully fix the issue. The just called me back and said that there seems to be an issue with the actuator..... Estimate $2,300. $900 for Actuator and 10 hours for labor.

However they said in order to change the actuator they have to tear apart the transfer case and will have to fix anything broken in the transfer case which is almost a rebuild. $2300 plus whatever else is broken.

Or my other option was the buy a whole new transfer case, $3800.

I told him straight up I thought he was trying to shaft me.......what to do?
