need some advice on tire/wheel shipping

What is the most cost-effective way of shipping wheels (and their mounted tires) ? I have one to ship to one person, and four to ship to another person ... I've never done this before, so I have really no idea what the most efficient way to ship these things!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I don't know about the added weight of the wheels, but when I've ordered tires they always ship them singularly with the label taped to the tire. I think they came via UPS, but I'm not totally sure.

Yea most of the time its best to ship them in singles. One other option would be to get cheap nylon rope and tie 2 together and ship them in pairs

I sent a set of wheels via ups, which was a huge bill (seller paid for it).. The cost for shipping 4 Honda Civic wheels: $120

When I worked for Firestone, we shipped a few tires via USPS. We just wrapped them in plastic and taped the label to the outside.

Try greyhound. They may be a bit cheaper.

yeah, greyhound is cheap, but it requires the receiver to go to a Greyhound station to get them, which in many areas can be a haul. I've heard DHL has good prices on large items too.

I always just cut cardboard the size of the tire, then tape the hell out of them with packing tape. Ship each one individually, and I have found that fedex is cheaper than ups with wheels + tires. Also, take some air out of the tires as they will actually be lighter!
