I can't speak to the manual transmissoins, but only what I have found for the Automatic crowd and Multi-mode transfer case, such as in the Limited Transfer case "VZN185L-GKPZKA". That would be great to have more information (your diagrams) from what you have.....Thanks

the waveform is created the same way, by moving a piece of metal between a magnet it causes a small votage pulse. This causes the square wave you see on a scope, so it should be useable. If you connect to the ABS computer all that could happen is you fry it, which your not using right now anyways.

Wow, it's so nice to have a speedo that is accurate again. I even replaced the MAF sensor today and wow again-it's so nice to have a motor that pulls through it's rev range instead of just stumbling at heavy throttle!

Schaefer I hope to have not offended you with my above comment on the ABS issue. With so many different variations of transfer cases and transmissions, it would definitly be diffcult to stay on top of it all.

Great job your research and documentation.

Well, I've had sensor issues for a while. I replaced the MAF once already with a junkyard unit-maybe 2 years ago or so. When I pulled that one out yesterday, it came out in 2 pieces-yikes.

The check engine light has thrown the same P0171 code several times over the last year. It would run fine at light throttle, but at heavy throttle it was very sluggish and almost felt like something was holding it back from revving-running rich. So yesterday I just got tired of it, had a diagnostic run at Toyota and had them watch the fuel curve while it was running and sure enough mechanic said MAF. I was like dangit not again. He then told me that this was such a common problem that Toyota did a slight re-design on that part a while back. Sure enough, it had a different part #. He said everyone that had this new part number MAF had not been back with the same problem anymore. So I coughed up the $116 for the part (would have been $145 w/o the TLCA discount) and picked up a new air filter while I was at it.

Went home to install it and forgot that last time I swapped the MAF that I had boogered up the screws. So I had to remove the airbox and tap the screws out. Made a trip to Home Depot and found some screws that would work and can be taken off with a wrench now. Installed with the battery disconnected. Drove around a bit and then tried out full throttle and it was so much better-smoother and it pulled through the rev range where before it would just stumble.

Ok which wire was it? The Speedo on this 96 I SAS'd does not work obviously. So without a doubt the 2.7 is far easier to swap. I need a place to run the wires from a t-case sender to and I'm willing to bet the wire you cut or identifed is it.

What wire is it? I'll call Rubicon Express on Monday, I got wraped up in wrapping the swap up, it's done.

It was the grey wire with a blue tracer line on the abs ecu on the passengers side front kick panel.
