I have 1997 3rd generation 4Runner. The car comes with glass headlights (instead of plastic). I have searched this forum and I agreed that the headlight uses H4 bulb. I did look at the bulb and it also says H4. However, there is a label in the headlight itself and the label says HB2. Can somebody confirms if the correct bulb should be HB2 or H4? I believe the reflector inside the headlights are made for a specific bulb length. The mounting for HB2 and H4 seems to be identical but the bulb length seems to be slightly different.

i also hold a valuble 97 limited...let me tell you i love it....mod here...mod there... but to your question it fits h4's. you could also change the 97 to 99-02 headlights.... still working on that but i have someone im about to purchase a set for $80 plus $20 for shipping i'll make my moves first before spreading the news.......
