How did you get the center part of the backing plate behind the #2 Idler pulley off? Mine has a tab that fits into a slot and needs to get pushed down in order to unhook. Almost looks like I have to take off the Cam pulleys and the rest of the backing plate?

Doing it for the first time and my other idler pulley was dis-integrated when I went in to replace the water pump so I thought I would change them both.

Nope. It's a really smart idea.

Only thing I would do different would be to put a thin piece of wood, plastic, leather, or whatever in there to protect the belt from the plier jaws.
