Yeah...I've been thinking about that. From what I can gather, there are a few folks that make 4" lift kits (OME, Skyjacker). However, this also might stiffen the ride a bit, and may cost me more money in the long run if/when I go to SOA later on. So...it makes more sense to do SOA right from the start. I think this usually nets about 4-5 inches of lift, retains the stock springs which seem to work best, and gets more clearance under the axle (as you mentioned). Its easier to screw up SOA than a bolt on kit, however, and can be unsafe if you don't know what your doing (from what I've read so far). Anyways, at least I've got the 4runner to wheel in for the mean time, so I've time to plan it out.
Mark- on a side note, congrats on the MS job, sounds like you're in good company (except for that WATURD guy
). I'm looking to rent a house in the next couple of weeks, so we'll definitely have to have the next 4ROC wrenchathon at my place.

Yeah... I'm itching to get out as well (I changed shampoos, that may have something to do with it
).
I have some maintenance to do before we go out.. I just found that the nut on the top of my passenger side rear shock is backed off enough that there's about a 3/8" of open thread. crap. I KNOW it got cranked down when the lift when on... I dunno how it got loose.
Thanks on the congrats! I've kinda' kept it low key, just kinda' 'cause.
