Well after a few weeks of browsing and searching this forum i'm not entirely sure which route i want to go...i mean i have a 96 runner and LOVE the thing, the only really problem i got with the vehicle is the tires, all season tires suck in the mud...originally i wanted to do a 3" lift and wanted it as cheep and easy as possible, just so i could get those precious 33's under there...i've come to the conclusion that the only reason i would ever need this setup is if i was to go rock crawling, and then would brobably need a lot more $$$$ worth of mods and what not...just isn't what i am in too...lol

i honestly would love the bigger tires just for looks, but don't really need them. i do the occasional wheelin, mostly just to get to good camping spots...and love to play in mud...what i am wondering is should i just get a good set of A/T tires? or should i get the few inches of lift as well?...

also, i just wanted to add that almost everyone on this site ROCKS and is willing to help other people out with their questions...THANKS for getting me addicted to YOTA TECH!!!

If you don't want to spend much money, you can do just a 1" body lift and get some M/T's if you like to play in the mud a lot.

A 3" lift is good for more than rock crawling. I'm not much into rock crawling, but there are a lot of times the extra clearance is supremely helpful. I would tell you too consider a 2"-3" spacer lift, get some 285's, and be happy.

The tires would be much more than the lift, but you would keep a factory ride, gain some clearance, look better, and get those 33's under there.

Well look at the toytec lifts if you want a cost efficient lift. It has coils for the rear and spacers up front and you can run stock shocks if you like. Putting spacers in the rear on stock springs eventually leads to sagging and brings you back where you are now.

This is an excellent idea.

Go to the website and check the pros & cons of spacer lifts. You still may not get one of the spring lifts; but at least you will understand what will happen when you put spacers in the suspension system.

By the way, the only good thing about a spacer lift is the price.

Spacers are good for minor adjustments to height or if your rig leans to one side.

id say go for the lift but stay wit your ifs stuff ,if you drive it daily. and i think body lifts are not that pretty.

ya i don't like them either...i realize that when you go bigger (tires) you obviously loose mpg, but would it be fair to say that you also loose rpm's due to the bigger tires?

While you don't technically "lose" RPM's, you will have lower RPM's for any given speed. This severely impacts power depending on how big you go for tires.

stay away from cheap body lifts if you don't want your chasis fly out. Do a suspension lift.
