Bingo. The CV busted like it should under too much pressure and spilled its guts. The fallen bearings were a bad sign of things to come. Somewhere in the mix I bent an axle shaft getting out of the canyon.

Above: 30 seconds before failure.

Poly Performance shafts and a new CV will get things going before Moab.

Your truck is bada$$. The level of wheeling I have done is not even close to what you are doing and I am having CV problems as well. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/a...3-lift-145039/ What do you plan to do to help avoid future CV breakage? How much total front suspension lift do you have in the front?

SFA or build a buggy seems to be what most retire to after they discover the next level of wheeling. In this instance I’ll replace the broken CV and keep wheeling my junk the same. My lift is about 2 – 2.5 given the bumper, winch and skids. Seems the droop is what kills, some do limiting straps. This is also the second time I’ve bent an axle shaft in a year. These trucks do have limits.

Front and rear were locked. The approach requires an immediate wide turn after straddling the entry rocks. The turn put my passenger front dangling in midair while the other tire bit. In an instant my truck thrust forward and slammed the wheel into a rock face, CV TKO.

CV's blow because of droop and wheels turned too far or wheel speed, or tremendous torque (crawler). I've broken when locked and when not locked.

IFS works within constraints. When you disrespect the IFS constraints you break things.

The PP axles are beef. Did you cryo your gears?

See you in Moab

GREAT looking 3rd Gen... Wish it were mine as well do a lot of other people on here. I notice you added the 'sport' hood at some point and time. How much did that run you painted and all.

Jim, I had not cryo’d anything before installing. May be one of those things that bites me down the trail. You got the right idea with the F-Toy; I can’t wait to see that thing done

Read back in the thread and you'll find more info on the bumper builds.

Well, apparently I'm a slacker, I had no idea it was this soon. I have a job interview next week, so depending on the outcome of that will decide if I can go.

I got a buddy and extra $$, so otherwise I'm ready.
