Some of you may remember Albuquerque Jim's post last week of our sliders we made in his thread here. Well, I finally got mine bolted on last night, so I'll just get on with the pics...

Actually both sets we made were vehicle specific and very different except for the mounting legs and brackets. I'm sure we could come up with the measurements though.

I haven't done much to my Runner lately. I just had a Flowmaster muffler put on the wife's Tacoma. The Dynomax I ordered didn't fit or so they said at Meineke. Anyway, they gave me a good deal. She actually likes the louder Flowmaster muffler.

I did have them remove the "Bling" over-sized Monza tip from my Runner and put on the stainless Summit tip. While they had the Runner on the rack they showed me how bad Midas did on my Dynomax install.
The welds are crap and there is a hole in my Dynomax muffler probably from the install..

Now, I'll try and answer a few Q's...

I don't have time to make these for sale, I wish I did, because it was fun, but for it to be worth while to me, I'd have to charge a fair amount more than someone like Stubbs, who is a pro. I don't have all the equipment to make these easily on a large scale. Stubbs actually just lowered his prices, too.

Galen, where are yours? Well, come on out and we will build you some. Actually, if anyone is willing to come out here to NM, I'd be willing to help you build some to your liking

MTL_4Runner, as Jim said we didn't really have any plans, just looked at lots of pic, took measurement, and got after it. Here's what we used for material: For the main square rail and legs, we used 2" by 2" by 3/16" wall-thickness square tubing. Mine were about 64" long and Jims were about 68". Mine were shorter to accomodate my SR5 flares, that actually stick down below the body in front of the rear tire. The round tube 1 3/4" (OD) with 11 guage (1/8") wall thickness. I used a $99 pipe bender from Harbor Freight. It did o.k., but if you look at the pics closely you can see where it pinched a tiny bit on the inside of the radius. Not a big deal to me, but if I were to do it again, I'd plan far enough a head so I could take the round tube to a muffler or body shop and have it bent on a real mandrel tubing bender. I left the "legs" ( the pieces beyond the radius) of the side rails long, so they could be cut at the correct angle to match flush with the square tube. THis was the hardest part. You really need a large metal band saw that can cut mitres to do this right. We went through a few sawz-all blades and angle grinder cutting wheels to get this right, eh Jim?

Finally we use 4" by 3" by 1/4" thick angle iron, cut into 5.5" long pieces as mounting brackets to "cradle" the side and bottom of the frame, and used about a dozen self-tapping 3/8" by 1" bolts per slider to bolt it on.

Piece of cake, you guys can all go build your own now.

If you haven't left yet, do you happen to have one extra of those 3/8"x1" self tapping bolts lying around? (Yes, just one extra bolt). If so, could you please bring it along to CO4RJ? I could really use one more on one of my sliders. I already have the hole ready for one more, too. Thanks.

I use 640x480 for the pop up windows that come up from the thumbs.
