heck, lets make this a modified TJM thread......

I remounted my front bumper, raising it 1" and adding in some serious gusssets, then welding on 2 shackle hangers. Of course my earlier mods to the "wings"

It's the Toyota brush guard that came on my truck from the factory, cut up a little. Yes, on a TJM T-17.

mt goat,

you made my morning, dude. i remember seeing your bumper a few weeks back and saying "what the hell is that?" (in a good, admiring way). since then, i have not been able to find it or remember who owned the truck.

if i do get a bumper, i'd like to do exactly what you did. i personally don't like the gigantic hoops on either the arbs or the tjms.

youre a genius, man.

If you want to do that, I have a Manik brush guard in my garage that would be perfect for the cut and fit to a T-17. The lower section was slightly bent in a fender-bender and I got an ARB to replace it. If you want it, I'll take $25 and you pay shipping. The $25 is just to make it worth my time to drive it to the loading dock of whatever shipping company you use...

bama,

hmmm...mighty tempting. though i wont be buying a TJM for a few months, consider it almost sold

do you have a pic?

Edit: Bama, looks like the design is not going to work as nicely as the stock bumper. But thanks for the offer.

We need a group buy on the TJM bumper. I also think it looks far better than the ARB. I thought I read somewhere recently that they were imported into Seattle? Hmmm.

Pssssst...*
There was a group buy through Mike (Xtreme Off-road), courtesy http://www.xtremeoff-road.com

I dunno if he's still got it though. He's currently arranging a group buy on Detroit lockers - as he says it may be the last group buy that he does for a while so if you're looking at that...

pic is working for me, i like how you integrated lights in there. i wish there was a decent spot to add fogs to TJM bumpers.

Thanks it was a lot of work, but I like it too. Let me know if you have any questions.

Oh cool, I see it now. Very nice, are the yellow lights turn signals or fog lights?

goat:

I've got to compliment you on that modification too... I really like the contoured look of my guard but it's caused me such headache that I'm looking forward to getting rid of it.

If I had the tools and know-how I'd be doing the same thing with mine
